Ford will be introducing five new electric vehicles by 2012. But that should surprise no one. Ford has been developing electric vehicle technology for more than a decade. We were the first to introduce a gas-saving, emission-reducing hybrid electric SUV and today, we have two proven and popular hybrid electric vehicles on the road: the Fusion Hybrid and Escape Hybrid. We’ve even developed a hybrid you can plug-in to recharge – which extends the distance it can travel in all-electric mode. And we’ll soon be introducing the Ford Focus Electric, which is absolutely, completely, 100% electric. It will never need a drop of gas. And that means it will never produce one iota of CO2. It’s all part of our long term plan to make both drivers and Mother Nature very, very happy.
Ford Motor Company Ford is committed to delivering vehicles with the best or among the best fuel economy. Ford has 12 vehicles with best-in-class fuel economy - more than any other full-line automaker – giving consumers a real choice when choosing a vehicle that suits their needs and saves money at the pump.
Ford’s Power of Choice tour will be rolling through Hampton Roads in partnership with Virginia Clean Cities to highlight Ford’s fuel efficient lineup and the new electrified vehicles that will be available in North America by 2012 and Europe by 2013.
